    Moving to Hamline - Midway

Recently (Spring 2007) featured in MN Parent as a top choice family-friendly neighborhood, Hamline - Midway real estate has become quite the popular area. Its gain in popularity over the last 5-8 years was in part a result of the high housing costs in the neighborhoods to the south (Merriam Park, Mac-Groveland, Highland Park, etc). The demand for central location, proximity to colleges, early 20th century homes and affordable housing is met with Hamline - Midway real estate.

Hamline - Midway is defined by its commercial corridor which runs along University Avenue, connecting the two downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul, hence the nickname Midway & Hamline University is at the center of the neighborhood. In addition, the area is home to several public and private schools and a handful of parks. The Public Library  and theHamline Midway Coalition provide a deep sense of community for this area. The housing stock consists mostly of 1-1/2 and two story homes built in the early 1900's to 1920's, complete with Arts and Crafts detailing and wonderful woodwork.

If you are looking for a neighborhood with promise, affordable real estate, convenience, and centrality Hamline-Midway is a good place to start. Shops and restaurants are also in abdundance throughout the neighborhood. From Super Target to Borealis Yarns, and from Ginkgo Coffee house to Midway Used Book Store, Midway has your needs covered.

Minutes to either downtown, Como Park, Grand Avenue, and perhaps your place of employment, your Midway home is "close to everything!"
