Moving to Hamline-Midway |

Moving to Hamline - Midway
Recently (Spring 2007) featured in MN Parent as a top choice family-friendly neighborhood, Hamline - Midway real estate has become quite the popular area. Its gain in popularity over the last 5-8 years was in part a result of the high housing costs in the neighborhoods to the south (Merriam Park, Mac-Groveland, Highland Park, etc). The demand for central location, proximity to colleges, early 20th century homes and affordable housing is met with Hamline - Midway real estate.
Hamline - Midway is defined by its commercial corridor which runs along University Avenue, connecting the two downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul, hence the nickname Midway & Hamline University is at the center of the neighborhood. In addition, the area is home to several public and private schools and a handful of parks. The Public Library and theHamline Midway Coalition provide a deep sense of community for this area. The housing stock consists mostly of 1-1/2 and two story homes built in the early 1900's to 1920's, complete with Arts and Crafts detailing and wonderful woodwork. |
