The ever popular Macalester-Groveland neighborhood is located on the western edge of St. Paul. Boundaries are Summit Avenue on the north, Mississippi River Boulevard on the west, Randolph Avenue on the south and Ayd Mill Road on the east.

Macalester-Groveland is a fun and vibrant community. Home to Macalester College, the University of St. Thomas and the College of St. Catherine, this college neighborhood hosts a population of students, professors and young professionals who never want to leave the area after college! The variety in housing opportunities makes the goal easier. However, the demand to be in Mac-Grove is very high. So is the relative price per square foot. Much of the neighborhood was built in the 1920's, so the Arts and Crafts bungalows are prevalent. The larger homes are Prairie Style and Colonial Revivals. Summit Avenue, the grand boulevard, is home to the mansions of its time, and today, Grand Avenue, one block to the south, is the retail strip that holds an eclectic mix of restaurants, gift shops, specialty stores and coffee shops. Favorites in the Mac-Grove include: Widmer's Meat Market, the Groveland Tap (neighborhood restaurant), Abbott Paint Store, Pad Thai Restaurant, Coffee News Cafe and the Breadsmith.
